The
Omo River feeds a distorted bird's foot delta at the northern end of Lake Turkana, which lies in Africa's Great Rift Valley. The delta is in Ethiopia, just barely north of the border with Kenya. This appears to be a nicely perennial river in a difficult spot. Note also that there is at least one example of what some of us like to call 'fan deltas' in this scene. More on this later.
Of course, rift valleys are pretty obvious places to find deltas since they commonly (though usually only temporarily) serve as river graveyards...
I am betting there is a very interesting river-integration history here.
