I have probably spent more time in my Owyhee field area in the last 4 years than I have spent anywhere other than my home.This map showing my traverses over that time is a testament to that. The middle Owyhee River area is a genuine geologic wonderland and is a joy to visit...under almost any conditions. This summer I have to finish my work there. I will spend nearly a month out in the wild between now and the end of July happily filling in the holes on the traverse map and making final calls on the lines. For those in the loop, we hope to lead an FOP trip out there in Fall 2012. One Owyhee river v. lava oriented paper is close to publication, the map is looking good, several other papers are in meat space, and I hope to integrate the map into a river guidebook at some point.
