One day I will simply have to visit this amazing desert land in the Xinjiang Uygur region. This place is beset with so much pathological geomorphology that it is mind-bending. Take, for example, this transition from a huge, broad, braided desert stream to a relatively compact alluvial fan surrounded by immense sand dunes to a meandering channel. Wow. There is a cool story here.
