I'm not completely sure I'm seeing what I think I'm seeing here; it looks as if this whole area is covered by linear dunes and smallish lakes. If I had to guess, I'd say the imagery just happened to be taken at a time where there was plenty of standing water, and that this is not typical for the area. Here's the permalink.
