This part of China rivals Kazakhstan in its array of pathological landforms. Here I have found the only example of 'Herringbone' dunes that I am aware of. I made the name up based on a bi-directional cross-stratification pattern that I see in lacustrine shoreline gravels sometimes. The sharp angles in the planimetry of some of the dunes is remarkable. Seen these anywhere else? Have a better name? Let me know.
Go check this area out and marvel at the sand in and beyond this scene.
